The Hindeloopen Café

For those who have just arrived at the Museum and could do with a nice cup of coffee or tea and cake, there is the Hindeloopen Café. Situated on the dike, overlooking the harbour or, weather permitting, on the terrace at the foot of the dike, this is the ideal place to stay. The café is also suitable for visitors to have a drink during or at the end of their tour of the Museum. You can pay in cash, with your pin pass or with normal credit cards in Cafe Hindeloopen.

The Amsterdam House self-service restaurant

This restaurant offers a great variety of delicacies. At the coffee-and-cake buffet you will find various special brands of coffee, cake, pastry, brownies and biscuits. Take your pick from our delicious sandwiches, soups, salads, hot dishes, ice-cold drinks and fresh juices. You can pay in cash, with your pin pass or with normal credit cards.

The Hoorn Coffee House

The Hoorn Coffee House, situated behind the baker’s shop, offers the perfect accommodation for groups: parties, meetings, lunches, cocktail parties, etc. For more information please contact sales@zuiderzeemuseum.nl or call +31 228-351135.

Ice cream & chips

During weekends and holidays and weather permitting, the Ice Cream & chips shop in the square behind the church will be open to serve its delicious, locally world-famous home-made chips. Another attraction, the ‘scandalously’ delicious ice cream from the Moois social care farm in Lutjebroek (a nearby village) can be bought here. Of course, soft drinks and coffee are also available. You pay in cash for these items.

Shops

The Souvenir shop

You will find the Museum’s souvenir shop on the canal in the Outdoor Museum. Stare your eyes out on the many different keepsakes and products from the past, ranging from the cloth that traditional costumes are made of, to Delftware souvenirs, from fridge magnetic miniatures to books on virtually every aspect of the Zuiderzee, and from traditional children’s toys to gorgeously made wooden tulips. You can pay for your purchases from the souvenir shop in cash, with your pin pass or with normal credit cards.

The Museum shop

Near the main entrance to the Indoor Museum you will find the Museum shop, which carries an extensive assortment of literature on Zuiderzee art and design. Apart from that, the shop has a wide range of products designed by artists whose work is being exhibited at the Museum at the time of your visit, or has been in the past. You can pay in cash, with your pin pass or with normal credit cards in the Museum shop.

The Sweetshop

Experience the feeling of a child in a sweetshop, as we may know it from our own past or from the Pippi Longstocking stories or from Roald Dahl’s or Charlie in the Chocolate Factory at the Museum’s sweetshop, where the sweets in the glass jars try to outdo each other in colour and attractiveness. All the tasty things available in this shop must be paid in cash, just as in bygone days.

The Baker’s shop

On the front side of this building you will find an authentic bakery which originates from the City of Hoorn. The baker’s shop is open regularly and sells delicacies such as chocolates and a variety of cakes and biscuits. You can only pay in cash in this shop.

The Cheese warehouse

Don’t miss out on a visit to our ancient cheese warehouse, originally from the nearby village of Landsmeer, for our absolutely delicious Zuiderzee cheese, a fenugreek-seasoned cheese or another brand of exquisite Dutch cheese. See how the cheeses used to be laid out on rows of shelves to mature. You can pay for the cheeses in cash or with a pin pass.
