Choral singing in the Zuiderzee region gave expression to everyday life and religion. The Zuiderzee Museum offers choirs the opportunity to perform on the edge of the former Zuiderzee, between the characteristic houses and buildings from the period that the inland water was actually a sea.
This year, the Bataviakoor-Lelystad, which originated from a promotion team at the Batavia shipping yard, celebrates its tenth anniversary. It is a mixed choir and sings sea shanties, seafarers’ songs and ballads in both the Dutch and English languages.
Bataviakoor Lelystad from the city of Lelystad will perform on this Sunday. More information can be obtained at www.bataviakoor-lelystad.nl.
