Butcher’s shop

Take a look at what the butcher’s shop looked like a hundred years ago!

In the nineteenth century, most butchers went to the livestock markets to buy their animals. They slaughtered the animal in the slaughter shed, often in primitive and grubby circumstances. The Public Nuisance Act of 1875 largely put an end to this practice.
