The agricultural co-operative bank

At the beginning of the twentieth century, agricultural co-operative banks give agrarians the possibility of storing their money safely or of getting hold of the necessary credit. In principle, the bank is only meant for the farmers in the village or in the parish. The livestock serve as security. Accordingly, the farmers are no longer dependent on their richer neighbours. One of the largest banks of the Netherlands emerged from the agricultural co-operative bank.
