Route

For a visit to the Museum we suggest that you use our​ visit planner. It shows you what's on at the Museum on the day of your choice, and can generate your personal itinerary.

The Outdoor Museum is now closed for the winter period and will be open again for activities as of Saturday 1 April 2016. Please note that the museum ferry is not in operation during the closure of the Outdoor Museum. The Indoor Museum is open all year round, except on Christmas Day (25 December).

By Car

When travelling by car, you can reach the Museum by following the signs 'Zuiderzeemuseum' along the road as you approach Enkhuizen. These will lead you to the railway station where you have plenty of parking space for your vehicle on the Stationsplein. From there, the Indoor Museum is only a ten minutes’ walk. Follow the signposted route for pedestrians and enjoy the pleasant walk through the city of Enkhuizen.
Please note: if you are using a GPS navigation system, enter ‘Enkuizen Stationsplein’ as your destination.

By Public Transport

When travelling by public transport, take the train to the Enkhuizen Railway Station. From there, following the signs ‘Zuiderzeemuseum’, it is only a 15 minutes’ walk to the Museum’s entrance.

On Foot from the Station

From the railway station walk along the old harbour and pass under the Drommedaris. Then cross the white drawbridge and turn right with curve of the route. Walk on until you reach the old city wall, turn left and follow the wall until you see the entrance to the Indoor Museum on your left. The pedestrian route from the station is shown on several signposts along the way.​

By car

Follow the ANWB signs for 'Zuiderzeemuseum' that you will see along the road as you approach Enkhuizen. These will lead you to the Museum’s reception hall: the main entrance pavilion at no.1 Sluisweg in Enkhuizen (GPS coordinates 52.692616 / 5.279789). The adjoining parking lot provides enough space to park your car. Full day parking charge: €5. The ferry boat trip from the entrance pavilion to the Outdoor Museum  takes about 15 minutes.

The city-side entrance to the Outdoor Museum is intended for pedestrians, cyclists and, if necessary, for (semi) disabled visitors. Please take into account that most parking places in the centre of Enkhuizen are reserved for permit holders. Therefore we advise you to park your car on the large parking lot at the entrance pavilion situated just outside the city centre, at no.1 Sluisweg.

By Public transport

Take the train to the Enkhuizen railway station. From there, following the signs ‘Zuiderzeemuseum’, it is only a 15 minutes’ walk to the Museum’s main entrance. Or take the Museum ferry for a 25 minute boat trip to the Outdoor Museum.

By Museum ferry from the Station
The Museum ferry carries you from the railway station across the IJsselmeer to the Outdoor Museum. It leaves from the jetty behind the (VVV) Tourist Office (opposite the railway Station). Please make sure to purchase your admission tickets at the (VVV) Tourist Office prior to boarding the ferry and hold on to them , as they are needed to board the ferry (this also goes for holders of an Annual Museum Pass or an I Amsterdam City Card).
