You can enjoy a drink and a little something to eat in this age-old Amsterdam building. This historic looking facade houses a modern café restaurant, the largest catering establishment within the Museum grounds. You can enjoy excellent views of the Museum Park from the large terrace on the front, whilst the menu offers an extensive choice of tasty food and drink.
This small café along the harbour welcomes everyone in need of a little rest. Enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or order a cool beer. The small menu in this cosy café offers some simple, delicious snacks, exactly as they used to be served up in the olden days. The dike in front of café Hindeloopen or its back garden are excellent places to sit outside if the weather is nice.
You will find café restaurant ‘Het Peperhuis’ in the oldest part of the Museum. The name says it all: pepper was stored here in the VOC times. Now it’s an excellent spot to enjoy some lunch, dinner, or perhaps just a drink: the extensive menu has something for everyone. The terrace along the inner garden is open if the weather is nice.
Shelves full with cheeses of all sorts of shapes and sizes: this cheese warehouse along the town canal is a true haven for cheese lovers. The shop also has a wide variety of cheeses on offer, from creamy North Dutch cheese, to the more mature Goudse cheese and soft Edam cheese.
It simply smells delicious: the patisserie in the Museum Park. Your eyes are immediately drawn to the counter when you walk into this old little shop. All sorts of delicacies are on display here, including biscuits, rolls and cakes. Plus you can eat it all in the authentic ‘lunch room’, complete with a cup of coffee, tea or a lemonade.
A true haven for those of us with a sweet tooth: the sweet shop at the church. Sweets from now and then are displayed on the counter in large jars. Liquorice, toffees, liquorice root and all sorts of sugared and colourful temptations: you will know where to look if your children go missing ...
Visit the ‘Edam’ souvenir shop for a nice keepsake of your visit to the Museum. It goes without saying that you will have plenty to choose from, including toys from days gone by, clogs, delft blue crockery and primers. Plus there is plenty to browse through in between the smocks, necklaces, scarves, books and much much more.
