Looking for a day out with your family or friends? We’ll arrange it for you in minutes! Below you will find an example of a full day out, but you can make your arrangement as complete as you wish by adding or leaving things out. Visit the Zuiderzeemuseum with this group arrangement up to 28 October 2018.

Boat trip

Your visit starts at the “Entreepaviljoen”, the Museum’s main entrance. The signs “Zuiderzee Museum”, will lead you to the car park.

After collecting your tickets at the box office in the pavilion you step on board of our Museum ferry which will take you to the Museum in approximately 15 minutes. Passing along the picturesque old City of Enkhuizen on the way, this wonderful boat trip is merely a foretaste of what you are going to experience at the Museum, and as such forms a nice start of your visit. The ferries sail to and from the Museum every 20 minutes.

On arrival in the Outdoor Museum you walk to one of our restaurants, where you will be welcomed by our staff with a cup of coffee or tea and a slice of currant bread.

(Reservation required)

One of our experienced guides will pick you up at the restaurant, after which the tour starts. The guide will take your group on a one-hour journey through time, on the way telling stories and anecdotes about the life in the Zuiderzee area as it was approximately one hundred years ago.

The tour ends at the restaurant, where lunch will be waiting for you: white and brown bread, regional West Frisian currant bread, rye bread (‘pumpernickel’), a beef croquette, assorted sliced cold meat, two kinds of cheese, jam, chocolate strands, coffee, tea or milk.

Explore the Museum

After lunch you can go out on a further exploration of the Museum on your own. You will see craftsmen doing work that has long disappeared or has been radically changed over the years. Who remembers the sailmaker, the laundryman and the cooper? The demonstrations will give you an impression of what living and working on the borders of the former Zuider Zee was like. And, of course you can also visit the Indoor Museum!

The Museum is opened until 17:00 h. The last ferry to the main parking leaves at 17:30 h.
