Making a message in a bottle

Children can also get to work on making an attractive creation. Until 23 October, it is possible to produce an exceptional message in a bottle! The D-I-Y activities take place in the Outdoor Museum on Weekends and in the school holidays.

House Siberia

It stood on a little island encircled by ditches and was called Siberia; a nearby row of houses was called Moscow. This was because the houses were so far from the rest of the built-up area. After all, Siberia and Moscow were also quite far away.

Since Marken was flooded a couple of times a year, the houses were built on piles. Sometimes the chicken coops and rabbit hutches around the house had to be rebuilt after a flood. The animals were rescued, of course, before the water got that high.
